Shaking it up with EarthQuake Recycled
6.12.15
On April 19th we rocked the Fisch Haus with our fundraiser, EarthQuake Recycled, raising over $4,000 towards Aveda’s global goal to raise $6.5 million for clean water projects. The proceeds will be coordinated through Global Greengrants Fund, a non-profit that channels high-impact grants to grassroots groups working to solve pressing environmental problems.
The evening included refreshments from Wichita restaurants Tanya’s Soup Kitchen, Picasso’s Pizza, Cow and Sow Deli, and Rain Café and Lounge along with beer and wine provided by Jacobs Liquor and bartending services by Tanya’s Soup Kitchen.
The silent auction was fun and exciting, with lots of competitive bidding. Artists John Ernatt, Kent Thomas Williams, Charlotte Martin, Jessica Reyes and others donated artwork for the fundraiser. Local businesses Hatman Jack’s, the Candle Club, GreenAcres Market, Beard’s Floral Design, Valley Wholesale, Lucinda’s and others provided fabulous prizes for top bidders.
Local earth and wellness vendors, including the Bluestem Acupuncture Clinic of Kansas, Lloyd’s Natural Honey, EarthWise Pet Supply, Wichita Rain Barrels, GreenAcres Market & Deli and Aveda were on hand with information and demonstrations on easy, earth-friendly ways to make changes to help care for ourselves and the planet.
We wrapped up the evening with a fashion show of clothing made from recycled materials and wigs made from shredded paper by our talented team and costumes from past ArtAID performances. Check our their work below.
Special thanks to our staff, models, Aveda, Fisch Haus, Holly Friend, Julia Cherney, Julian Bartlett and Jill D. Miller for all their help making this event a success!
